Bixin

The Bixin Watch Automatic movement- Inspired by the Dog Star Sirius

Project Overview

The Story

THE DOG STAR

Inspired by other independent watchmakers, particularly Roger W. Smith and Masahiro Kikuno both of whom he admires most for just their general attitude and their complex approach to watchmaking.“I'm honestly fascinated whenever I see a beautifully finished part, be it mine or someone else's, knowing how much effort goes into every minuscule detail.“For Tim Watches are his second devotion, fascinated by the challenges, the complexity, interaction between parts, especially seen under the microscope.

An interesting approach. - "I dared to tackle watchmaking without a topical education, but DESIGN has a solid foundation based upon intensive reading of two books which could not be any more different: George Daniels’ “Watchmaking” (which I think actually induces readers to try watchmaking themselves) and LeCoultre’s “Guide to complicated watches” (quite dry and tiring to read, very technical, one has to go back and forth to understand)".

Specifications

A deep sky blue throughout, the main dial features an endearing textural element. Surrounding this is a machined steel ring that brings some visual sparkle to an innately brooding dial, with chrome assembed minute marks for legibility and ease of time reference.

The inner rotating chapter ring retains the same dark blue of the dial, with white printed numerals and a vivid stering silver perimeter line.

The Tiemension logo at 12 o’clock aids quick time referencing. The minute and hour hands are fully polished with a gentle sword profile and sky blue glass integrated blade within the blade for- great legibility in all lights. The hairline running seconds hand is bright white with a light blue  centre circle - a magnificent sweeping chrome hand standing in stark contrast against the deep blue of the dial.
